Guðmundur Þóroddsson, manager of Reykjavik Geothermal, held a reception yesterday afternoon in the light of the Reykjavik Geothermal Conference 2013. Luis E. Arreaga, U.S. Ambassador to Iceland, addressed the guests and especially thanked AMIS for the initiative to invite members of the Chamber on the promotion of Reykjavik Geothermal (RG).
First point of the agenda was RG´s geothermal energy project in Ethiopia, which reached the scope of a power plant.
Jay Nathwani, chief engineer of the U.S. Department of Energy, discussed the cooperation between Iceland and t he U.S. in the field of geothermal energy. There are many possibilities for cooperation. The Obama Administration has a lot of ambitious plans leading up to 2013.
